The dreaded scale and the week after Thanksgiving

Soooo...I followed my plan this week..considering the avalanche of food that was placed in front of me. From Thanksgiving at Disney, cooking for events and a multitude of food choices at the end of a half marathon on Sunday, I made some smart choices

Or so I thought...

With a long work day on Thanksgiving AND a completed Half Marathon, I gained 1.8 pounds.

Total Utter Frustration.

But I have not lost hope. I have not thrown up my hands and said "Oh well...I guess I can't make it to my goal." That is what I have done in many years past. After two weigh ins at Weight Watchers, I usually disappear into a sea of excuses because I just can't stand the damn scale...

Not this time...

My dream is attached to this goal now. My dream of becoming an Ironman rides on getting this weight off. Many people told me that I should have waited until AFTER the holidays to start this weight loss journey...but then I would have run the risk of gaining 5 or 7 pounds during Thanksgiving instead of my 1.8 pounds.

No excuses. No compromise. It sucks that I didn't lose this week but I am determined.

Stay the course....

You are on a journey, one that will have lots of ups and downs. Keep the faith, keep plugging away, and keep surrounding yourself with positive people. I believe YOU CAN DO IT.

Stop! Stop right there! Listen to me (are you listening????) You ran a half marathon, despite losing water weight while you run your body is in a "what the heck did you just do" mode.

1.8 pounds is 6,300 calories. Did you consume 6.300 EXTRA calories in the last week? If not then the weight" will disappear.

I know it is frustrating, but trust me on this. PLEASE!

Damn woman.. your scale measures tenths? Could you get one that measures in grams? I like the one that measures in stones (makes me feel English)

You and I both know fluctuations of a couple pounds either way is normal (unless you are Calista Flockhart)

So get over it and stay on plan because since starting the program you are down 5 or so, right?

Seriously??? Did you really weigh in the day after running a half marathon?? Now I hope you realize that you are definitely carrying some extra "water" weight around from that race. It always takes me 3-4 days to purge it from my body after a race. Don't believe me? Weigh yourself the morning before and the morning after a race and you will see for your self. And good for you keeping your head up! It certainly is smart to start that diet now so you don't put on thru the holidays!
